The Officers and Board are pleased to announce that our 26th Annual Dinner will be held on Friday, February 09, 2024.

Our speaker for the evening will be Claire Fraser, Vice-President of Estates & Collections, Fine Art & Silver Director, & Museum Services for Leland Little Auctions, Hillsborough, North Carolina.  Our speaker has been with Leland Little Auctions since 2004.  She attended Randolph Macon Woman’s College, held a Summer Fellowship at Historic Deerfield, and has worked with the North Carolina Museum of History and the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources.  She admits to always loving shiny things and found a passion for sterling silver flatware during a summer job as a bridal consultant at Hudson Belk department store.


As noted on the attached reservation form, we need to have your reservation NO LATER THAN MONDAY, FEBRUARY 05, 2024.  Should you have questions about the dinner, please feel free to contact me at 803.530.3697.


If you have not already done so, please include your dues with your reservation form ($30 for an individual and $45 for individual and one household member.

General members get-together

Join us for a fun and educational – the program will include:

1.  An expert panel to answer your questions about silver, silver plate, patterns, tips on cleaning, needed repairs and storage.  We also will try to identify any mystery silver you may want to bring with you to show the experts (maybe stump them).

2. Bring with you and show off your most interesting and/ or unusual silver find in 2023; or your prized South Carolina silver that you will share with us all. 

3. Finally, create your own reason to bring some silver to show everyone!
 

Our meeting will take place at the River District Church, 400 State Street in West Columbia 1/13/2024 starting at 11 am.

Chicora Plantation

Mark your calendar and plan to attend the first South Carolina Silver Society, Inc. group gathering in 2021 on Friday, May 21.  We will travel to Belton, South Carolina for two home tours co-hosted by members Tim Drake and John LeHeup.  Tim is restoring his family’s old country home and it is full of antiques and silver items.  John lives a short distance away in the town of Belton and his house is full of antiques and silver as well.

ANNUAL DINNER – FEBRUARY 2020

The South Carolina Silver Society annual meeting and dinner will be held Friday, February 7, 2020, in Columbia at the Palmetto Club. The guest speaker is Dr. Daniel Ackerman, Curator at the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts in Old Salem.

Elizabeth Walker (Gryphon Estate Silver) will be holding a Trunk Showing at Cricket Newman Designs in Columbia Wednesday through Friday,, March 13 – 15.  She invites us to visit with her.

Kaminski House in Georgetown

As announced at our Dinner Meeting last week, our next meeting will be a visit to The Kaminski House Museum, 1003 Front Street, Georgetown(29440).  We will meet at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 23.  We will tour the house with special emphasis on the silver.  
We have selected The Kaminski House Museum as our service project for this year.  More information on work days as we inventory this collection will be posted.
