A Silver Society Recap of 2024 Events

Our Silver Society members had a fruitful and successful year, with a variety of well-attended and engaging events. We are excited for 2025 and the opportunities it will bring for our members. Here’s a recap of 2024.

January

A membership meeting was held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Fellowship
Hall, River District Church at 400 State Street in West Columbia starting at 11 am. The program included a panel of silver experts answering all kinds of questions related to silver. The event was well attended and enjoyed by all.

February

The SCSS Annual Dinner was held Friday February 9, 2024. Our featured guest speaker was Claire Fraser from Leland Little Auctions. The event was well attended.

April

On Saturday April 20, 2024, eleven SCSS members were treated to a private tour of the Charleston Museum. Our tour guide was Chad Stewart and he did a good job! The weather was near perfect and traffic on the Interstate was good by comparison. I think the consensus of the group was it was well worth the time and expense to make the trip.

May

We had a fun and educational SCSS event at Trinity Cathedral on Saturday May 4, 2024. A big thanks to Norah Grimball and Frank White for an informative look at the church silver, as well as church history.

November

The Anderson County Museum had a silver exhibit entitled Silver of South Carolina and Beyond with an opening reception on Thursday November 14, 2024 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. John LeHeup will go into greater details about the silver, the exhibition and future SCSS tour opportunities.
